WORK EXPERIENCE

Associate Instructor
Indiana University Bloomington

One of the Associate Instructors for the course CSCI-B 365 Data Analysis and Mining by Dr. Christopher Raphael.
Conducting office hours to help students understand the concepts of probability theory, clustering techniques and supervised machine learning algorithms like regression, tree models, markov chain models, naive-bayes, SVM.
Grade weekly assignments and exams for a class of 60 students.

JAN 2020 - Present

Machine Learning Research Assistant
Indiana University Bloomington

Worked with Dr. Gregory Lewis on two innovative projects: Early warning of infection and Brain Computer Interface.
Early warning of infection: Given a time series data of individuals which included heart rate, blood pressure, change in physical energy etc., as features, the goal was to build a system that automatically gives an early warning of an infection to the individual given their biological data. Performed feature engineering and used SMOTE to remove the imbalance in the data. Used an ensemble of Random Forests, SVM and a three layer dense neural network to achieve a sensitivity score of 0.934.
Brain Computer Interface: Designed a BCI system using Bi-Directional LSTM and Gated Recurrent Units to effectively classify the EEG data when an individual is subjected to cognitive and motor tasks. Used Dynamic Mode Decomposition for dimensionality reduction after performing short term fourier transform and hanning windows for smoothing.

JULY 2019 - JAN 2020

Software developer
Indiana University Bloomington

Tested and debugged the simulation tools developed by researchers in NanoBIO node of Indiana University.

JAN 2019 - JULY 2019

R&D Engineer
Denso Robots India Pvt Ltd

Liaised with the production and sales department and built a forecasting model using an ensemble of L2-Regularized regression, Regression Tree and a fixed effects model projecting the sales of Denso robots in India for 12 months by considering the trend and seasonality observed in robots with similar characteristics like cost, payload, degree of freedom, and IP code.
Reduced the manufacturing cost by 5.5% for one of the largest foundries in India by building a system to detect metal casting with defects using K-means clustering and integrating it with a robotic arm to automatically remove the castings with defects from the conveyor belt.

JUNE 2017 - MAY 2018

AWARDS

Innovation award and traction award
Led a team of 20 and built a gokart from scratch for the National Kart Racing Championship in 2016 to win the Innovation and Traction award. Headed the data acquisition system team and designed a system to warn about a potential threat to the cockpit driver or the vehicle.
